    McCain's Sneaky Plan

I was driving home from work today, and I heard something odd...McCain was getting press for pledging to actually DO HIS JOB.

Senator McCain made headlines for "suspending" his campaign in order to return to Washington and resolve our financial crisis.

Most people don't seem to realize that running for office is not a JOB, it is a extra-curricular activity. McCain didn't HAVE to run for president, he CHOOSE to. However, he was elected by millions of Arizonians to represent their interests in Congress. That is his job. So it's beyond me why he should get press for saying he'd stop running for office to do his job.

Neither Obama nor McCain are on the committee that will be debating this issue. There is nothing they can do other than ask other Senators to vote yea or nay. Really, they have no input on this issue until the issue comes to the Senate floor, which happens AFTER it clears committee. Once it's out of committee, there's no change to be made... only an up or down vote. It's really quite complicated, and that's what the McCain campaign is capitilizing on. They would be just as effective calling their fellow Senators on the phone, but if McCain forces Obama to come back, he's keeping him off the campaign trail.

Later on, it occured to me that McCain has a BRILLIANT campaign staff.

CNN.com had a headline explaining that McCain said no Solution, no Debate. This sounds like he's serious, huh? Not only is he serious enough to start doing his job, he's serious enough to NOT DEBATE his opponent.

But think about it... everyone knows Obama is a superior public speaker. McCain's staff have been shitting themselves in anticipation of this event. Not only is he making Obama look slack by pledging to do his job (since Obama, at this point, is not suspending HIS campaign), but he's also weaseling out of a debate!
